Pre-Operative Instructions
• ALL patients under eighteen (18) years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
• Wear comfortable, inexpensive clothing; a short-sleeved shirt is recommended. No dresses, skirts, rompers, jumpsuits, crop tops or waist trainers.
• If you were prescribed a preoperative sedative, the prescription will be sent to your pharmacy by the end of the day prior to your procedure. Please take the medication as directed.
• If you use an inhaler, bring it with you the day of your surgery.
• You may take your normal, daily medications with a small sip of water unless you have been otherwise directed by your surgeon.
• Please bring any removable appliance (flipper, Essix, or denture) discussed at your consultation.
Local Anesthetic Surgeries (Patient Is Awake)
• If you are having a procedure with local anesthetic (only numbing) you may eat, drink, and continue your normal daily routine, up until your appointment time. You do not need to refrain from eating or drinking.
• If you were prescribed a preoperative sedative for your local anesthetic surgery, you must have a valid driver bring you to and from your appointment.
IV Sedation Surgeries (Patient Is “Asleep”)
• If you are having general anesthesia (IV sedation), DO NOT eat or drink anything (including water) for 8 hours prior to surgery.
• Refrain from wearing make-up, jewelry, or bringing valuables. Remove nail polish, including gel and acrylic, from your index fingers on each hand.
• You will need to have a valid driver check-in with you the morning of your procedure (Uber, Lyft, cab, etc., do not qualify as a valid driver).
• Your driver will be asked to remain in their vehicle for the duration of your procedure. Your driver is not permitted to leave the premises at any time.
